If you looked for a new post yesterday and did not find one, it was because I was on the operating table. Nothing major, just taking care of bad sinuses (deviated septum in medical terms) so I can breathe better and recover my sense of smell for wine tastings.
Yesterday, I was a little foggy, and to day though better, experiencing life in the slow lane. Which brings me to today’s topic.
Since I will do a lot of sitting down and resting over the coming days the Omni, a combination chair-lounge-loveseat (by Sumo) would be a perfect fit. It would be a good purchase for your teenager or your college borne kid ($129.00 in a number of colors and free shipping).
Another way to experience Life in the slow lane is (according to the Guardian newspaper) to head for the hills according to Laura Kinch. These hills are in northern Portugal which I never visited.
I could also grab a copy of In Praise of Slowness by Carl Honore who updates us on the topic on his blog In Praise of Slow. Check the NPR ‘All things Considered’ Off the Fast Track January 6 Interview and side notes.
To keep it slow I will stop here.

I had the same surgery right before I went to culinary school because I was concerned about my sense of smell. Apparently, my nasal passages were 98% closed off – according to the doctor it was the worst case of deviated septum he’d seen.
I can’t say that my sense of smell improved – I don’t really know anymore. However, my breathing improved tremendously!!! Before the surgery, a mild cold would render my nose useless for breathing and I’d go through tons of Afrin (not good!). Now, a stuffy nose doesn’t even bother me, probably because I remember how bad it USED to be.
I hope the surgery goes as well for you as it did for me. Just wait… when they pull that packing out of your nose, it’s pretty gross but somehow cool at the same time.
