If one wine would have been the perfect pairing for the past week-end snowy weather, it is Saison des Vins: l’hiver ‘Syrah’ 2004,
a creation of Wells Guthrie vigneron (winemaker) of Copain fame. Wells Guthrie got this idea from the small regional wines from France. He might have got the insspiration during the time spent working at Chapoutier in the Rhone Vallee. This Hiver: Syrah 2004 shows fruit and earthiness, a sense of terroir. All the wines in this Saison des Vins series are made in as natural a way as possible using organic grapes. Let us look forward to the Printemps (Spring) offering; a Rose in a few months.
