Today I had to go to the city (New York City) to renew my french passport. On my way there, I stopped at the Post Office to get an Express Mail enveloppe so the French Consulate could mail my new documents back, saving me a trip and a few hours.
Well, the very nice Post Office employee could not guarantee that my Return Express Mail would be treated as such unless it was mailed from the local post office. It kinda puzzled me considering that I paid full price for the service and that the US Postal Service has to compete with Fedex and UPS.
I guess our Post Office has to work on their flexibility.
What saved me from having to run to the nearest Fedex office while in New York was the fact that the Consulate took the extra step of going to the Post Office to send my documents back to me.
I guess this fits with life’s little annoyances as they happen.
The US Postal Service needs to be more flexible if it wants to keep up with competitors
