This month, Lancieri di Risorgimento, Montepulciano d’Abruzzo 2003
is my choice for Wine Blogging Wednesdays Number 16 hosted this month by Derrick of An Obsession with Food (and Wine). The wine is imported by Wines for Food (based in New York City). Like all the Wines for Food selections it is graced by a label created from a vintage postcard.
It is a celebration of the Lancieri who fought for the creation of the Italian republic in 1848 and also a tribute to people who worship freedom the world over. A medium bodied red even though simple on second impression it shows some character.
Enjoy with any simple fare.
Another wine from the same importer is the ‘Gertie and Max’ Baden Gutedel Qba Dry 2004, graced by a pair of cute mice. This second wine (a white) was brought to my attention by Sharon of Amanti Vino where both wines are available. It is a perfect match to fondue. Gutedel is also known as Chasselas in Alsace. Both wines cost around $10.00.
