Some online retailers do not limit themselves to hawking their products. They also inform their customers.
Amongst them is Tea Cuppa which through its Tea Library offers historical facts, covers health issues and benefits related to tea, how to serve it and much more.
They specialize mainly in Chinese teas and credit tea origins to emperor Shen Nong (pictured here, from their site) and give it the name Ch?a.
One type of tea they sell that intrigued me is Pu-erh Tea. You can buy it as Tea Bricks, Tea Cakes. Some of them are ‘quoted’ as offering health benefits.
Here is their description:
"Pu-erh teas come from Yunnan province and improve with age. Some are still drinkable at age 50. These are teas with medicinal qualities and highly prized by the connoisseur. Unlike other teas, Pu-erh’s quality and taste improves with age. The aroma and flavor are earthy and incredibly smooth."
I did not realize until today that there could be such a thing as Vintages for tea.
Thank Jenny for bringing ‘Tea Cuppa‘ to my attention.
