Going places for the first time can be challenging or sometime disorienting.
If you visit France for leisure, a service called Allo Visit helps you plan your exploration with a 7 steps audio guide to each city or area. Each stop is described in a 2 to 3 minutes segment.
Access the service via your cellphone, check the list of cities covered on the Allo Visit site and call the number allocated to each of them. There is no cost but the cost of your call.
I listened to snippets on a few Destinations including Angers (with historical facts of course), Martigues (the Venise of Provence) with a little couleur locale telling us that they play la longue and not petanque there.
Some guides are for an area such as The Seashell Road in Brittany or The Windmill Route around the Beauce countryside.
Best of all the site offers both an English and a French version.
