Over 50…There is a thin line between trying to be cool and looking foolish as Peter Aspden points out in How to be a middle-aged man (Financial Times, Week-End)…Count Barack (Obama), Tony (Blair), Homer (Simpson), the omnipresent Bono, yours truly (Just Over 50) and many others in this league.
Hitting the Dance Floor at parties (there is only one Mick(Jagger) as Peter reminds us) or trying to look like a Surfer Dude might qualify as foolish.
Getting drunk with colleagues or worse alone is a definite no-no.
Driving Sports Cars and wearing jeans (no elastic band waist please) is OK.
No need to Feel or Act like a Fossil and let your ideas and opinions Freeze though.
A good way to put the spirit of Peter Aspden piece in a nutshell is Get the Balance Right as Depeche Mode sang a while back (January 1983, ouch!).
Depeche Mode might be in the 50 and over league , are they not?
