Another Monday coming, another restaurant opening I have to go to.
Life is hard.
Especially knowing that this BUN opening, running from 6:00 pm to 2:00 am no less, sounds close to party like it’s 1999.
Let’s get back to the place itself.
A funny thing happened on the way to checking what Bun, a 45 seat
Vietnamese restaurant that just opened in Soho (New York) was all about.
Being a Frank Zappa fan for many years, what got my attention first was the fact that musician Warren Cuccurullo (Zappa, Missing Persons) is a partner in the venture.
Let’s not discount the importance of Michael "Bao" Huynh (known to some as The Architect-Chef) who designed Bun and with his wife Thao Nguyen will make the place sizzle.
The focus is on Vietnamese small plates offered in the very attractive $12 price range.
From what I gathered there is even a Pho Connection.
Pho will be served 4 ways including Saigon style and even in a New York version.
Bun is located at 143 Grand Street (near Lafayette St) in Soho (New York).
I will share my first impressions on this Taste of Vietnam in the heart of the Big Apple sometime next week.
