In a twist to make the food shine and awaken our senses, a number of restaurants around the world offer Dining in the Dark.
If you are not afraid of the dark, on Halloween Night (October 31st) Taste TV and Million Dollar Dinner will stage Dark Dining at Fort Mason Center in San Francisco.
Cost per person is $95.
The whole trend according to Waiter, I’m at your mercy (NY Times, July 2007) was started in Zurich, Switzerland at restaurant Blinkeduh who has an all blind wait staff according to the piece. The aim was to create jobs for these people.
They now have a second location in Basel.
Prior to this article, In Paris Dining in The Dark (LA Times, April 2007) visited Dans Le Noir with also legally blind waiters which opened its doors in the City of Light in 2004.
