Hundreds of sites, big and small are contributing their bit to this Blog Action Day 2007.
I could surely have listed many more Green Travel Solutions here but selected two for this first edition of Blog Action Day
First pick is Nature and Kind which offers high end Eco-Tourism mainly to Africa, South America and Asia.
The company launched about a month ago and wears the carbon responsible badge at the office as well by encouraging their staff to use environmentally friendly transportation to work.
To promote good habits they offer employees incentives such as a bicycle allowance.
Founder Andrew Harding uses the train as much as he can for his travel.
Some pages of The Nature & Kind website are not available yet but should be live soon.
The second pick, Green Seats gives you a chance to compensate for the emissions your trip created.
I put their compensation calculator to work using a Newark (New Jersey, US) to Barcelona (Spain) round trip flight as an example. The results were 2,7 tons of CO2 created and a full compensation cost of 33.52 Euros.
In their 8 Reasons to Compensate, Number 1 is ‘Clean up after yourself’.
I often feel like saying the same thing to all the pet owners who do not clean up after their dogs when I walk mine every morning.
Where does the money you pay to compensate goes. It goes to fund projects such as forestry (planting trees if you prefer) and renewable energy and energy saving ones.
Green Seats is based in Rotterdam, Netherlands.
