She’s so unusual, instead of using paint on her palette, Japanese artist Mafuyu Murakami channels her creativity through wool and knitting.
PingMag interviews her and showcases her work in Mafuyu’s Knitted Homes. She does sweaters and wool hats but maybe the most interesting pieces if you are looking for Gift Ideas are her Knitted Necklaces (shark teeth theme) and the Wool Rings (shown below, from PingMag piece).
These were created for her ‘Drawing’ exhibit (2006).
See her Knitted Houses in My Town in My Home at the SFT Gallery, National Art Center in Tokyo until December 24.
It might be hard getting these on time for the holidays but maybe it will be a source of inspiration.
