I would not call it 12 Steps to Heaven, maybe 12 Steps to a Clear Mind would be more appropriate for Drawings that Will Change Your Life by Ralph Perrine on Change This.
I was especially attracted to ‘Balancing your Life’ (illustration taken from his site)
Let me quote Ralph Perrine’s own words on what the 3 columns stand for:
"Life seems to follow a cycle of taking in, processing, and giving out. Inhale, process, exhale.
Inhaling means taking in things that hopefully nurture, inspire or educate you.
Processing means thinking, prioritizing, deciding what things mean, and coming to your own conclusions.
Exhaling is output. What you produce, write, create. Your work,
your contributions. It seems that these three activities – inhaling,
processing, exhaling – have to remain in balance with each other. When
these elements get out of balance life becomes frustrating. If you are
taking in all the time but never giving out, or theres giving with no
taking in, or no time to process life – all of these are examples of
being out of balance."
Taking the time to write things down brings clarity.
Putting it in Drawings helps us visualize them
Want to use this method as the year goes by, a 12 Drawings That Will Change Your Life – Calendar is available (via Cafe Press).
What is your way to clear your thoughts when you feel out of kilter or trying to decide on the way forward?
Thinking in Curves for Monday Work Etiquette #20
Last week: Disaster Proof Tips to Doing Business in Dubai, Shanghai and Mumbai
Great illustration. I just finished reading a report on the real nightmares of information overload knowledge workers are facing. In dealing with the deluge of emails, Powerpoints, word documents, PDF reports and the like its amazing how little ‘real’ work gets done.
One of my solutions is to use clear white paper and an old school ink pen. Putting the Word on paper has a certain seriousness, a commitment to action which (even as I fight procrastination) beats TO-DO lists and reminders any day.
