I must be behind the curve.
I thought that substance was more important than style.
That is until I noticed this job ad for Carrie and Danielle.
I was a bit puzzled (intrigued) as to why anyone would try to be authentic again…
I guess they got lost along the way.
So Carrie and Danielle is based in Vancouver and named after its co-founders.
Their byline is ‘communicate who you are in all you do’…
They offer a Style Statement Consultation for a modest $500.
A book is also on the way.
I am still scratching my head as to what they are trying to accomplish.
A twist on their idea could be teaching ‘how to fake it’.
Does their idea or mine qualify as Job Idea Number 6?
Job Idea Number 5: ‘Green Homes Concierge’, Job Idea Number 5 (now in London)
Bonjour Serge:
Question – How do you express your substance? How do you show people what you’re made up of on the inside? You can’t very well show them the inside of your head, now can you. The way that people show their substance is WITH their style, n’es pas? Substance does not exist in a vacuum – substance is utterly dependent on style to prove that it exists at all (If a tree falls in the forest…).
Okay, let’s not get to philosophical about it. Style isn’t just what’s in your closet. It’s the way you walk in into a room, the way you speak, the friends you choose, the job you do, the way you sign your name on a contract, your business card, your home, the charities you choose donate to, the way you smell, how you stay healthy, the wine you drink.
Some people live totally authentically and their inside perfectly matches their outside, and thank god for them. But don’t you know a few people who could use a little help genuinely expressing themselves?
