It took an Hungarian an an American to start Alambic International
in Mendoza and turn an old Olive crushing facility into a Malbec and
Chardonnay scented Vodka lab.
This Primo Vodka is distilled only 3 times to keep the wine flavor to it.
Since its introduction in February of 2007, it has won numerous
awards including a Double Gold Award at the San Francisco International
Spirits Competition in March 2008 and a Silver Medal at the
International Spirits and Wine Competition in London in July 2007.
It is said to be smoother than traditional vodkas.
As for the grapes used, it is either 100% Malbec or 100% Chardonnay.
I discovered them thanks to Malbec-flavoured vodka, anyone? by Jude Webber (FT, April 5) which reminds us that France also offers 2 grape based vodkas, Ciroc and Idol (Pinot Noir and Chardonnay).
The second one calls itself ‘vodka for wine lovers’.
