Since St Patrick's Day falls on a Tuesday in 2009, rather than talk about downing beers and bagpipes, I thought I would look at what Ireland has to offer in the Green department.
Irish folks looking for ways to save on their energy costs (going green can mean saving money) or starting or expanding their garden patch, have a place to go, The Organic Centre that is.
A non-profit, the Organic Centre offers budding gardeners a Polytunnel Class where you will learn the upside of going for the tunnel "Early produce, gardening all year round and growing tender crops are
the most important reasons for protected cropping. This course is
designed to guide you through the year enabling you to make best and
most efficient use of your polytunnel (see their picture below)and harvest lots of produce."
In addition they offer a service that sets up the tunnel for you, read more about it in 'Recession beater' budget polytunnel service, a practically green solution.
If you are a casually organic (user) shopper, check the recently published Organic Guide to Ireland (cover above), a collaboration with The Soil Association…
