They say that imitation is the best form of flattery.
When do you cross the line from imitation to plagiarism?
That's what I wondered after a routine check on how one of my stories with the most staying power this year Merci, Do-Good Haute Shopping in Paris, Opened March 5th (March 7, 2009) was doing on Google.
There was another piece titled merci, do-good haute shopping in paris published on March 19 by Design Boom.
So was it a pure coincidence or did they like my title so much that they lifted it.
Even when I write something inspired by other sources (which was the case for my Merci story), I usually quote them…
At first I wished I had one of the Design Boom illustrations when I wrote my piece but actually Tara Bradford photos of the shop such as the Oasis like atmosphere of the entrance (below) on Paris Parfait (June 25) are much livelier, they have a human feel.
Thanks Tara for letting us use your snapshot of Merci.
Makes me feel like being in France…
Thanks for the nod. Feel free to use one of my photos, with credit, of course. As for your headline, it appears too many people don’t take copyright violation and plagirism seriously. Shame on them!

Thanks Tara for letting us use one of your photos.
As you will see, I used the shot of Merci entrance.
Bonne soiree
