Well, I say low, let's say that I am now shooting for lower impact than usual.
With a family member hospitalized 20 minutes drive away and a couple extra concierge assignments on my plate, No Impact Week might turn out to be more challenging than I already expected after reading the No Impact Week Guide…
On the first day of No Impact Week, I take a few minutes to see what I accomplished so far of the many suggestions offered in the guide.
Since I am currently under-employed and therefore under financial constraints, reducing my consumption is not a problem. for the past few weeks, I have been a very careful shopper, just the minimum.
I limited my car trips to where I had to go, why waste gas?
I borrowed books at the public library.
I used my eco bags.
To reduce my trash, I will start composting. You know things like the coffee after the brew, egg shells, vegetables and fruit peels…
I cannot realistically carry my trash load around as suggested by the guide.
I don't think it would look good when I am running errands.
I don't use disposable cups.
I forgot to buy fabric napkins and fabric handkerchiefs, hoe many points do I loose for that.
I guess dealing with our environmental impact is a bit like when you try to quit smoking.
Most of us don't go cold turkey, we cut back progressively before we stop.
That's what I did some 30 plus years ago.
I have not smoked since then.
