10 Album Covers, 10 Artists from the UK, 10 Stamps
A New Collection of Stamps, Classic Album Covers is released by the Royal Mail on January 7, 2010.
Runs the gamut of styles musically as you can see from Mike Oldfield to Coldplay…
Want all the details, Norvic Philatelics covers it all, album by album…
Classic albums all, if not always to my taste (London Calling? Screamadelica? – bleurgh!), *except* The Division Bell. Whose arm got twisted there, and why? If someone felt that Dark Side Of The Moon was over-exposed (although it does have the most iconic cover), surely they could have picked another of the Floyd’s key albums, instead of this also-ran? Wish You Were Here, Animals or even Meddle would each have fit the bill nicely.

Thanks for the comment
I agree with you that it’s a mixed bag
I am not that big these days on ‘Tubular Bells’.
I guess we will disagree on ‘London Calling’ and agree as far as the ‘Bell Curve’ is concerned.
Some people think that I am opinionated but after a few years on the Pholist, I think my opinion meter is pretty mild after all.
A good, healthy debate does not hurt in any case.

Not Classic Albums, Classic Sleeves!
Dark Side of the Moon is not overexposed, rather so underexposed (ie black) that it would be impossible to properly postmark it and postmen would resort to biros or felt-pens.
Others have suggested Sex Pistols but you couldn’t have the b**** word on a stamp for your granny to lick could you??
Read up the background on our website – and thanks for the plug Serge.

Thanks for bringing the technical/ practical details relating to stamps to light, this is why I linked to your story in the first place.
As for the Sex Pistols, maybe in a few years.
I was listening to The Velvet Underground & Nico (better known as the ‘banana’ album) last night and realized it was released in 1967 (43 years ago).
