From the look of it, Shanghai has a lively wine bar scene.
A recent and popular addition seems to be Dr Wine with Vincent Landais, the sommelier, and entrepreneur Yann Quilbeuf at the helm.
Vincent Landais built his wine chops from an humble start in New Zealand to bigger things with Alain Ducasse in France followed by David Bouley in New York.
Judging from the Radar Review by Oliver Greene (January 29, 2010) for SmartShanghai.com, Dr Wine located on Fumin Lu could be described as rustic chic with wood floors, brick walls, dim lights. Feels warm and cozy enough that you would want to hang out there with friends.
Their wine list runs the gamut from affordable juice by small producers to nouveau riche Bordeaux.
Not sure what they serve by the glass. I will find out.
Food is classic bistro fare: cheese, charcuterie, salads, pate and the like.
