In my piece on Nuit des Musees Europeennes 2010, I mentioned in passing International Museum Day 2010 which takes place on May 18 in most countries except those who chose to celebrate on the closest Saturday, May 16.
The theme this year is Museums for Social Harmony, quite a program.
Considering the time I am writing this story on, the festivities are already under way in the Southern Hemisphere.
You could be taking in the riches of the Livingstone Museum in Livingstone, Zambia where it's already lunch time on Tuesday.
In Argentina, the Museums of Buenos Aires let you have a free ride at a number of locations including Museo de Arte Espanol Enrique Larreta (* Spanish site) pictured below.
Australia goes for the long distance celebration with events running from May 15 to May 23.
You can check The Stuartholme-Behan Collection of Australian Art at the University of Queensland Art Museum (below).
So International Museum Day is a chance to broaden your horizons and keep the blues away.
As far as I know Admission is Free at most if not all participants.
