Can't remember the exact time I first heard Tracey Thorn, it must have been with A Distant Shore (Cherry Red) in 1983.
She later gained fame with Everything but The Girl.
When not getting lost in the garden as she notes in To the Greenhouse (Caught by the River, April 20), Tracey found time to write and record Love and Its Opposite, the album comes out on Monday, May 17 in the UK and May 18 in North America.
She's back to her indie roots. The album is released on partner Ben Watt, Strange Feeling Records.
Visit this Love and its Opposite page to test drive the songs and see how/where you can get your hands on it.
A number of reviews describe it as musings on reaching middle age.
I really like the strings at the end of Why does the wind? and the way the song fades and gently slides in You are a lover…
Aging gracefully!
