Looking at the presentation, pricing and number of courses offered, I would put this speakeasy restaurant in the high bracket of these type of efforts.
It is closer to a Pop Up restaurant than a Speakeasy really.
Created by Chef Bryon Brown, Washington DC supper club Artisa Kitchen is a once a month treat for 28 lucky few.
Project launched in June 2010.
Tasting Table Washington DC gives us a taste of Artisa Kitchen in Supper Hero (June 30):
"He will host each month's event ($90) at a different art gallery,
innovating dishes based on its installations. At the first dinner,
Brown–a molecular gastronomy buff who cooks at Jaleo–created pearls of
yogurt with mint and orange, inspired by the gallery's hanging beaded
sculptures (pictured). The 12 dishes will vary depending on the setting and season; Brown
shops the farmers' markets to source grass-fed meats and local cheeses
for each meal. He handcrafts pasta–including orecchiette enriched with
white wine and served with slab bacon–and experiments with techniques."
Wine pairings will be offered for each dish (actually 6 wines for 12 dishes).
July date is sold out. There are still seats available for August 26th installment.
