All good things come to an end, Nuits du Sud 2010 closes on Saturday, August 8, 2010 on a Latin Note with a concert featuring Grupo Fantasma (Texas) and Raul Paz (Cuba).
From July 8 to August 7, the 13th Edition of the festival brought to Vence, 30 kms from Nice in the hills of Alpes Maritimes, a rich line-up of artists:
Suzanne Vega (USA), Youssou N’Dour (Senegal), Natacha Atlas (Egypt), Mickey 3D (France), Le Peuple de l’Herbe (France), Crenshaw Gospel Choir (USA), Ben, l’oncle soul (France), Shibusa Shirazu Orchestra (Japan), Toots & The Maytals (Jamaica), Bibi Tanga & The Sélénites (Centrafrica), Johnny Clegg (South Africa), Layori (Nigeria), Axelle Red (Belgium), Rokia Traoré (Mali), Baaba Maal (Senegal), Julia Megenes (USA), George Clinton & Parliament Funkadelic (USA), Omar Pene (Senegal), Calle 13 (Puerto Rico)
Concerts take place outdoors on Place du Jardin and start at 9 PM so if you are close enough and manage to get a ticket, you might still be able to have a special evening this Saturday.
At 13 to 18 Euros per concert it will not break the bank either.
Nuits du Sud landed in my news basket thanks to Sweet Jane who happens to be there for this gig.
If you stay in Vence overnight, do not miss the Local Produce Market, each morning on Place du Grand Jardin.
