The dynamic crew of Eat Me Magazine is throwing a party at Jalouse in Mayfair on September 16 to celebrate the publication of issue 3.
Topping the list of topics covered is post punk Scottish chef Gizzi Erskine whose looks are more 60's than anything else (except for the tattoos).
I did not know the girl (young lady should I say since she turned 30) so i went fact (fiction) gathering.
Even though she guest blogs on Rachel Ray site as Last Minute Lady, I am not sure the US crowd makes the connection (yet).
She stars in her own TV show Cook Yourself Thin on Channel 4 in the UK.
Gizzi mentions Siouxsee and Sophia Loren as style infuences.
In Punk chef Gizzi Erskine: I'm just like Nigella – except with tattoos and rock 'n' roll (Daily Record, June 6) she lists US punk gurus the Dead Kennedys and Sonic Youth among the bands she listens to and says:
"The Sonics are my favourite band ever. I'm also into the Toy Dolls just now and the first Stone Roses album. It sums up my cooking, really.
It's a modern take on classic dishes, I've just rock and rolled them up a bit."
She's not all show. She learned the trade starting with a stint at Leith's School of Food and Wine once she decided cooking was a better path for her than body piercing.
Interesting Gal!
Can't wait to see her piece in Eat Me Magazine, Issue 3 which also counts Bompas and Parr ( I wrote about their 50 States of Jello) amongst its topics.
