I was happy to see the number of women winemakers present at Burgundy Wine Tasting in New York, March 26, 2011.
Amongst them was Anne-Sophie Debavelaere of Domaine Rois Mages.
She had to believe in magic to start Domaine Rois Mages from scratch in 1984.
I had the pleasure to taste a number of her wines including the Bouzeron 2009 (100% Aligote). It is the only 100% Aligote under the Village appellation.
Barrel aged, dry with citrus notes, it will be great company with local dish 'jambon persille' or spicy foods and asian dishes.
She confessed not being part of the Facebook crowd, that her son Felix (24) who vinified the red wines for 2009 vintage would do that.
It prompted me to go back to her table at end of the tasting and snap a quick photo of her holding one of her 'babies'.
(* Rois Mages means Three Kings in French)
