Had anyone told me on March 22, 2005 that 6 years later I would still be writing away and manage to produce more than 4000 pieces, I would not have believed them.
I just started and never stopped.
Today, March 22, 2011, Serge the Concierge turns 6.
There were moments when inspiration, energy or both lacked.
As opposed to early days when things were informal, I cannot say that I lack subject matter.
The wine tastings I have attended in past 90 days alone could keep me writing day and night.
I don't want to overdo it to the point where writing becomes a chore and fun fizzes out like air out of a deflating balloon.
In past year, year and a half, recurring themes like Green Tuesdays, Recipes, Tokyo Thursdays, Interviews and more recently 10 Do's and Don'ts have become more prominent.
They anchor Serge the Concierge without stiffling it as there is plenty of room around these themes to play around.
Am I getting the 7 Year Itch?
Yes, in the sense that i would like to report from the scene by visiting people and places in Europe and Asia-Pacific region.
In the USA, events like Hospices du Rhone in California (late April) or cities like Asheville (North Carolina) are also calling me.
Hopefully with the help of a few sponsors and some friends, this will happen.
I could not have gotten this far without the cooperation of food and wine producers and distributors, book publishers and many others.
Should I celebrate with a 6 course meal and 6 great wines from 2005 vintage?
One of them could be the Brunello di Montalcino 05 by Mate. I was served a taste of it by none other than Candice Mate.
It has been rewarding to see the slow and steady growth in readership and its geographic diversity.
50 % of the readers now come from outside the USA.
Small victories like seeing readers happiness when they won one of our contests made it all worth.
Thank you readers and friends!
