Every day is a holiday somewhere.
March 3 is Doll Festival-Girls Day in Japan and a good place to celebrate that it seems is Nishijin Tondaya in Kyoto.
They share their classic Japanese doll collection with a Doll Festival from February 20 to April 3.
Here's what the program page suggests you can expect:
"Doll Festival is held on March 3rd to pray for young girl's growth and happiness.Tondaya preserved a great number of Hina Dolls. The dolls are dressed in gorgeous kimono in the way of women in the ancient Heian Court. Empress, Hina, and Emper, Dairi, sit on the top, followed by three ladies of the court, five court musicians, an escort and a gourd. Also, Diamond shaped rice cakes, sweets and white sake are displayed."
Nishijin Tondaya is primarily a Kimono wholesaler. Kyoto Travel Plans shares some of their history and current activities.
The official Kyoto Convention Bureau tells us about Tondaya Nishijin Textile Lifestyle Gallery which includes the Dolls Collection, no less than 13 generations of dolls, they say.
This year Big Doll Festival in Katsuura (a small fishing town) gets a Full Photo Treatment thanks to Through the Sapphire Sky.

Hello
I have never visited the Nishijin Tondaya in Kyoto. I clicked the link and found it very interesting. Thanks for sharing!
PS The vegetarian restaurant in your recent post looks cool.

Dear Sapphire
Glad you discovered something new in my piece.
Actually by ‘vegetarian restaurant’ you must mean coffee shop ‘cafe grumpy’.
I used the vegetarian idea in my headline as an illustration of the topic.
Take care
