Force of nature, the elements, leave a lot of things in their wake.
So do theater, film and other art creations.
"What remains as an art object in the artist’s head once the project or the installation has finished and exists no longer. What kind of object is left to present for posterity? The works stem from an initial first idea and what is displayed here is the residual essence of the concept."
Laure Genillard was offered a chance to illustrate this with Aftermath, Objects from Projects exhibit at Chelsea Space in London.
Drawing on her extensive contact list gleaned over 20 years she selected a variety of media from artefacts (Maurizio Cattelan), video (Stephen Willats), happenings (Peter Wuethrich), installation (Gary Woodley), travel art (David Tremlett, Brian O’Connell, Mathew Harrison), art in transit (Philomene Pirecki), daily gestures (Dean Hughes), communication (Padraig Timoney), distillery (Fred Pradeau).
Exhibit opens on May 3rd and runs until June 4, 2011
