On May 21st, the Salmon Creek Environmental Center will host Freestone Fermentation Festival
This (I quote) 'low-waste, alcohol free, pet free, smoke free and MUST have fun event' will include the first People’s Kombucha Awards with Michael Pollan as MC.
Here's what to expect from Noon to 5 PM:
- Artisan Foods, Informational Exhibits, Dynamic Music, Family fun!
- Sample an amazing variety of fermented food and drink
- Explore exhibits on the miracle of fermentation and its many health benefits
- Enjoy educational food demonstrations, enzyme foot baths, and kid friendly activities
- Choose from an assortment of delectable gourmet lunches
- Celebrate with a diverse mix of inspired Sonoma County acoustic music
Amongst the hands on sessions, Kombucha brewing by Hannah Crum of Kombucha Kamp, how to make beet kvass and Jenny of Nourished Kitchen will demonstrate her technique for making wild pickles.
Saturday happenings will be preceded on May 20th by a Symposium on Fermented foods and their role in our health to be followed by Fermented Food Feast created by Chef John Ash. Each dish will be paired with a local wine. Friday program is at Shone Farm.
