Music festivals in past few years have become the staging ground for creativity in food as well as music.
The 'indie' side of the food scene expresses itself via Supper Clubs and tons of Food Trucks…
The 2011 edition of Afro-Punk Festival brings 15 food trucks from all 5 boroughs of New York city to Brooklyn's Commodore Barry Park on August 27 and August 28.
Current list for Bites & Beats Food Trucks is:
"Cravings Truck,Desi Truck,Eddie's Pizza,Frites N Meats, Green Pirate Juice / cody!!, Joyride Truck, Kelvin Natural Slush Co, Mexicue NY, Rickshaw Dumpling, schnizle and things, Taim Falafel, Two Pitas, Van Leeuwan, Wooly's Ice"
The Executive Chef of Alias Restaurant, Marcellus Coleman, will cater to the festival artists, athletes and VIP's.
Music wise, headliners include Santigold, Janelle Monae, Ceelo and Fishbone plus a bunch of acts from around the U.S and abroad.
Add to the mix, BMX and skate competitions, a Harley Davidson bike show, and an artwall…
Entrance to festival is Free, food is not.
I should be there to mix, mingle and a taste of the 5 boroughs on Sunday, August 28.
I definitely plan to check Rickshaw Dumplings as well as Desi Food Truck (are they really the 1st turch to serve Indian food?) and Van Leeuwan Artisan Ice Cream Truck to clean my palate.
