Cider was the drink of choice in Brittany before wine until after the second world war.
In my tender years, the family gathered once a week at the neighborhood Creperie for a meal of galettes, crepes, lait caille (curdled milk) and cider (not the non-alcoholic type).
I was pleased with the Alpenglow Apple Cider from Linden (Virginia) that landed on my porch a couple weeks ago.
What's in it:
"A blend of 100% pure, fresh pressed apples from local farmers of the Shenandoah Valley region are used to achieve this delicious sparkling cider. The apple juice is pasteurized for purity and assures an extended shelf life without preservatives. The premium quality of the fresh blend of apple juice contains no added sweeteners, no caffeine, and no alcohol."
I apreciate the lack of additives. Did not know that caffeine could be found in some sparkling cider.
Alpenglow also offers a line of 'Alternative Sparkling' Drinks.
I recommend the peach.
