I had no jaw dropping reaction to the news shared by a BenQ press release today that Gaming Monitor for Electronic Sports League (ESL) Intel Extreme Masters Global Challenge at 2011 New York Comic Con…
I am interested in many things, video games is not one of them.
I was curious to see what the company had up its sleeves as I do spend a good amount of time in front of a monitor so I paid a visit to BenQ site and saw that they put the spotlight on their Green Initiatives where under Eco Action one of the categories was Distribution.
I am sensitive to that side of things since I frequently receive food and wine samples and books and worry about how much all this sampling has increaded my carbon footprint.
One image (chart below) spoke volume about impact of air freight versus versus sea (and land) transportation.
You cannot help but notice that carbon emissions are 10 times higher for air freight for a 1200 km flight.
I thought distribution would include a mention on packaging, it did not.
It always feels odd when I receive a parcel from a company claiming green credentials or promoting their organic lines and the box or package is overflowing with foam peanuts.
Besides the fact that they are not recyclable, I hate foam peanuts for their static and the mess they make.
I had not realized that there is actually an alternative, starch based peanuts.
Venting on packaging, trying to quantify my guilt on shipping impact for Green Day # 197
