I was getting started on Italian roses at Winebow's Think Pink tasting when a lady came to the side of the table with 2 white Loire wines in her hand.
Although they were not destined for me since someone was about to sample them, I asked her if I could join the sipping party.
First came Touraine 2009 'Sauvignon Blanc' by Francois Chidaine, nice mouth feel, clean finish.
Second sip was Champalou 'Vouvray' 2010 'Sec' . 100% Chenin Blanc displays juicy fruit, nice acidity. Besides grilled fish and shellfish, producer suggests roasted vegetables and Asian food as good pairings.
While Touraine should be found in $13 range, Vouvray might be closer to $18.
A welcome interuption by surprise visitors.
