March 13 marks the official opening of Kotobuki: Auspicious Celebrations of Japanese Art from New York Private Collections at Japan Society in New York.
Kotobuki, or “celebration,” will be showcased “through an inspired selection of paintings, calligraphy, surimono, textiles, ceramics, and baskets dating from the 12th-21st centuries.“
Exhibit runs from March 13 to May 11, 2025
Tickets can be purchased online: $15 for non-members, $10 for students and seniors.

In addition there will be a panel discussion on Birds, Diplomacy, and Painting in 16th-century Japan on March 14.
“Lecture will explore the theme of bird-and-flower painting from the perspectives of East Asian diplomacy and commerce during the century of Japan’s first encounters with Europe and the New World.“
