I almost made it aboard the Coast Startlight on April 29 fron San Jose to Paso Robles.
Unfortunately the train was late and since I had already missed a full morning of Hospice du Rhone wine event, I switched to a bus.
I had not realized until that missed oportunity that the Coast Starlight takes passengers along the West Coast all the way from Seattle to Los Angeles, a 35 hour trip on fair weather days.
To Celebrate its 40th Anniversary, Amtrak launched the Amtrak Exhibit Train on May 7 (National Train Day) in Washington DC.
The train will criss cross the country for a year.
Here's the itinerary for Amstrak Exhibit Train until July 31, 2011 (from Amtrak's pages)
- Washington, DC (May 7)
- Lorton, VA (May 14 – 15)
- Baltimore, MD (May 21 – 22)
- Philadelphia, PA (May 28 – 29)
- Perryville, MD (Jun 4 – 5)
- Harrisburg, PA (Jun 11 – 12)
- Strasburg, PA (Jun 18 – 19, 25 – 26)
- Springfield, MA (Jul 9 – 10)
- New Haven, CT (Jul 16 – 17)
- New London, CT (Jul 23 – 24)
- Providence, RI (Jul 30 – 31)
Train ride would make perfect sense on my trip from New York to Vermont late June for Wanderlust Festival, music, yoga, green and healthy lifestyle.
(* Since Amtrak made it hard to find a decent size logo for 40th Anniversary, I had to borrow one from pages of Momento Blog in Australia)
