This might surprise you but one of my favorites at this afternoon tasting of organic and biodynamic wines by Jenny and Francois Selections at the Smith in New York was a white wine.
It was a Cotes de Duras (not Marguerite) Chateau Haut La Vigne offered by Nadia Lusseau, a young woman winemaker.
This blanc sec is 50/50 Semillon and Sauvignon blanc.
Drinks effortlessly, refreshing, inexpensive..
For positives vibrations, Domaine de la Patience ‘Chardonnay’ (Vin de Pays du Pont du Gard) fun, floral and citrussy.
As far as light reds for a warm day, Comptoirs de Magdala ‘La Chance’ (2007)from Bandol hits the spot.
‘La Chance’ means luck in case you wondered and this luck blends gracefully Mourvedre, Grenache and Cinsault.
Let’s not forget the not too sweet Muscat de Rivesaltes ‘Clos des Camuzeilles’ (2005).
As Francois suggested it was perfect company for a blue cheese from Vermont cheesemaker ‘Baily Hazen’.
A lovely afternoon in the city.
Sante!
