Even when I lived in France, I do not remember drinking Madiran wines.
It took buying a wine from Uruguay a few weeks back to get my curiosity awakened.
So yesterday while doing my Sunday shopping rounds, the sight of a Madiran stopped me.
The wine in question is Madiran Laplace (2003).
Made of 60% Tannat, 20% Cabernet Franc and 20% Cabernet Sauvignon, this robust red wine is aged in oak and offers a good balance of fruits and tannins.
Since it comes from Gascony, cassoulet and other hearty fare would be perfect company.
Consider it a great buy at around $11.
