Tyler Cowen newly released book Discover your Inner Economist offers ways to pick a spouse, a restaurant, improve school attendance, give people incentives to do things hence the carrot on the cover.
When looking at a visit to a museum, he pointed to the fact that there is too much to explore to start with. Choice can be overwhelming to the point of paralysis. His suggestion in that case was to spend time only on art pieces that you would steal. He does not mean it literally of course.

Wonderful post! I like the idea of only spending time on what you love (would steal). It’s great advice for vacations, too. If you just hit all the tourist traps, you don’t see the real city and don’t come home with any truly intruiging stories.
