I tied a knot in my handkerchief so I would not let La Chandeleur and its Crepes pass me by.
Each and every February 2, La Chandeleur is a day to fill your tummy with comfort food.
I did not have a chance to make Crepes this morning so I guess instead, I might get the batter ready, buy some jambon, cheese, eggs and make one or two 'couples' (two crepes with the goodies, toppings in the middle) for Lunch.
Maybe I'll splurge and go for a glass of apple cider too.
I forgot all about the religious part of it which "commemorates the purification of the Virgin Mary and the presentation of baby Jesus" (French.About.com).
The Irish Man from Herault shares his thoughts on the holiday, fortune telling, poems and all in Crepes for la Chandeleur (Feb 2, The Evening Herault). I borrowed the snapshot of his efforts as an illustration.
Joyeuse Chandeleur
Happy Crepes
