They call Taste of London the largest pop-up restaurant festival in London…
I know I am mentioning it a bit late in the game since there is only Sunday, June 20 left as a full day at the time of this writing. Saturday evening happenings are under way at Taste Theater with chefs Angela Hartnett and Colin
Buchan; Giorgio Locatelli; Tristan Welch…
Some use it to launch products like Gigi's Fair Trade and Organic Kalamata Olives…
A festival goer recommends the Bloody Mary at Aussie Spirits by a bald bartender. Michel Roux was serving snail soup on Friday…
The Best in Taste Awards announced on Thursday by Charles Campion are:
Third – Chermoula baked river trout, quinoa, tomatillo & preserved lemon salad, spiced seeds & tahini cream from Anna Hansen's The Modern Pantry. Anna was voted UK New Zealander of the Year 2010.
Second – Cochifrito suckling pig from Fino, a Spanish Tapas Restaurant in Fitzrovia.
First prize for 2010 goes to Adam Byatt's Trinity in Clapham for the pigs trotters on toasted pain polaine, fried quail egg, gribiche sauce & crackling (pictured below).
Of course this is only a quick overview of what the event, now in its 7th year has to offer.
Taste of London takes place in Regents Park . Some people talked about rain on Sunday but the park's forecast says sunny-cloudy. Bring a light poncho with you just in case.
I can only hope that the Summer Fancy Food Show (June 27-29) in New York which I will attend offers as many surprises (delights).
