Each year, in September, Normandy is the scene of a mini invasion, a peaceful one, with the Deauville American Film Festival.
The 36th Edition just opened on September 3 and runs until September 12, 2010.
As opposed to other movie events where only the glitterati, professionals and the media are allowed in the bubble, the Deauville event has an open door policy.
Anyone with a ticket can attend most screenings.
I wrote 'most' screenings as a number of them like premieres of The Company Men (with Ben Affleck and Tommy Lee Jones) and The Kids are All Right are Invitation only.
The 2010 event include tributes to Annette Bening and Terry Gilliam.
Overall 100 films, including documentaries and made for TV movies will be presented.
