Let's roll!
Here comes the first batch of books for our Cook the Books Contest celebrating World Book Night on March 5th.
The first publisher answering my call for prizes was Andrews McMeel Publishing offering a comfort food trio with a Southern twang.
Tammie chose:
For Homemade Hospitality in 30 Minutes or Less: Quick-Fix Southern by Rebecca Lang
Rebecca is a frequent contributor to Southern Living, published March 8, 2011.
Next is Tupelo Honey Café by Elizabeth Sims and Brian Sonoskus, a soon to be published Spring 2011 title.
Titled after namesake North Carolina restaurant Tupelo Honey Cafe, beyond recipes you get "the full delicious flavor of Asheville’s fresh, artisanal food scene."
Third and last Grilled Cheese, Please by Laura Werlin, just off the press. I shared The Wisconsinite one of her 50 recipes in this little red book of grilled cheese.
I will interview Laura Werlin soon on all things American cheese.
How can you try your luck?
Since the theme of World Book Night is all about reading and writing, each participant will send a poem, a haiku, a recipe, some prose related to one of the trios of books, 5 lines maximum.
On Monday, once the dust settles, we will go through all the entries.
The best entry will get first pick, second will pick from remaining four trios and so on for remaining three.
All entries must be submitted by 6 PM on Monday, March 7, 2011 (US Eastern Time).
