I saved centimes and francs in order to buy my first radio so I could follow the Tour de France.
I remember hearing the news that Luis Ocana fell. It was in that spot below in the Pyrenees.
Photographer Peter Drinkell went back to revisit some of the places that saw their share of human drama.
The result Peter Drinkell / The Great Road Climbs of the Alps and Pyrenees / June 27 – July 21 at Edmund Pearce Gallery in Melbourne (Australia)
To stay with classic masters of the ride I chose as second photo, Memorial to Fausto Coppi and Louison Bobet, south side of the Col d’Izoard, Alps – 2008.
Call me a nostalgic.
