Amongst the Sauvignon Blanc alternatives I offered to customers in my restaurant years, Viognier was and still is a personal favorite even if it is not a Condrieu.
The Lobetia Viognier 2010 shows citrus and peach tones balanced with floral aromas and a taste of honeysuckle on the palate.
This Spanish Viognier is produced under the Lobetia name using organic methods by Dominio de Punctum in town of Las Pedroñeras (Cuenca area of Castilla-La Mancha).
Sip this Lobetia Viognier with friends on a warm day. If dinner is on the agenda, pair it with spicy or Asian dishes and shellfish.
The butterfly mosaic gracing the label adds to its charm.
At around $13 retail it will not break the bank.
Thanks to U.S importer Terroir Wine Cellars for introducing me to Lobetia Viognier.
